What are some dark truths about the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah? Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah  is an Indian Hindi language television sitcom, based on the weekly column called Duniya Ne Undha Chasma by Taarak Mehta in Chitralekha.

One of India’s longest running television shows, it is produced by Asit Kumarr Modi . It premiered on July 28, 2008 and airs weekdays on Song SAB . It is the longest-running Indian sitcom.

1. Jetha Lal is older than Bapuji in real life

Amit Bhatt is an Indian television actor. He has appeared in a number of Hindi television serials as well as theatre. He played the role of Champaklal Jayantilal Gada as a father of Jethalal Champaklal Gada in tmkoc (Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah). Amit Bhatt (Bapuji), who plays the role of Dilip Joshi’s (Jetha Lal) father in the show, is younger than his on-screen son.

2. Daya bhabhi and Sunderlal are real-life brother-sister

Disha Vakani (born 17 September 1978) is an Indian film and television actress. She is well known for playing the role of Daya Jethalal Gada in popular daily sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah . Daya (Disha Vakani) and Sunderlal (Mayur Vakani) who play on-screen brother and sister are brother and sister in real life, too.

3. Sunderlal has an M.A. in Indian Culture and Diplomas in Sculpture and Drama, respectively

Mayur Vakani is an Indian television actor and a sculptor. He is known for playing the role of “Sundarlal” brother of Daya Jethalal Gada in the SAB TV’s comedy show “Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma.” Mayur Vakani, who plays Sunderlal, is an artist in real life and has even contributed to the making of Gujarat’s ‘Jhanki’ that was carried in the procession on the Republic Day.

4. Iyer used to write Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Tanuj Mahashabde, who portrays the character of Iyer, initially started as a writer on the show. However, it was only after a suggestion by Dilip Joshi that the producer decided to give him the role of Iyer in tmkoc cast. Although he is a Maharashtrian in real life and not a south-Indian, as portrayed on the show.

5. Gogi and Tappu are cousins in real life

Bhavya Gandhi (born June 20, 1997) is an Indian actor . He is known for his portrayal of Tipendra “Tapu” Jethalal Gada in the Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah , which airs on SAB TV. He left the show in February, 2017. Gogi and Tappu, played by Samay Shah and Bhavya Gandhi, respectively, are real-life cousins.

6. Jethalal has previously worked with Babita Jee

Munmun Dutta is an Indian television actress and model. She is best known for her portrayal of Babita Iyer in the popular Hindi sitcom TMKOC. Dilip Joshi has already worked with Munmun Datta, who plays the role of Babita, in another show called Hum Sab Barati.

7. Dilip Joshi was initially approached for the role of Champak Lal

Joshi has performed mostly in comedy roles and he is prominently known for his role as Jethalal Gada in the Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. However, he declined it and was later offered the role of Jetha Lal.

8. The character of Nattu Kaka is played by Ghanshyam Nayak

Ghanashyam Nayak is an Indian film and television actor. He has appeared in a number of tele serials as well as films. He is currently playing the role of Natwarlal Prabhashankar Undhaiwala a.k.a. Nattu Kaka in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. By qualification he is tenth pass.  He has to his credit 200 Gujarati and Hindi movies, more than 100 Gujarati stage shows, and 350 Hindi TV serials.

9. Babita Ji is the youngest among the adult characters

Munmun is a Masters in English and had started her career as a model. She first got a break in Indian TV industry with the show Hum Sab Baraati Hai. She was also a part of Kamal Haasan’s Mumbai Express and was also seen in film Holiday. Munmun Datta joined the show when she was only 20. Eight years later, to date, she remains the youngest member among the adults.

10. Bagha used to portray small roles earlier in this show

Tanmay Vekaria, Actor by profession, performing as bagha in a popular show, Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah. Before claiming a permanent character on the show, Bagha, who works in Jetha’s shop, used to portray small roles in the show. He played a school teacher, an auto-rickshaw and taxi driver, and an informer in the same show.

11. Disha Vakani’s father has also made special appearances on the show

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Dayaben aka Disha Vakani’s father Bhim Vakani featured in one of the episodes on the show. He has been seen playing Champaklal’s cousin and many other similar minor roles in quite a few episodes.

12. Rita Shrivastav, who is portrayed by Priya Ahuja Rajda, is the real-life wife of the show’s director Malav Rajda

TV actress Priya Ahuja has managed to win hearts with performance as Rita Reporter in Sony SAB’s ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. Priya is fondly known for playing the role of a journalist in the popular sitcom. The actress fell in love with the renowned Gujarati director Malav Rajda on the sets of the popular show and got married to the show’s chief director in real life.
