There can be many reasons for being in a relationship. But what if you are single?
In this fast paced, ever changing world, maintaining good socio-economic relations with each other is growing more and more important. More than anything, being a social moron is a big NO! Under such circumstances each one seeks another person to spend their time with, to share their experiences, grievances, joys and sorrows and mostly to have someplace to go to and have someone to be with. In this prominent rat race, the relationship status has gained a much larger significance than it ever was.
“Single is not a status. It is a word that describes a person who is strong enough to live and enjoy life without depending on others”
This quote unleashes a very unanimously perceived myth. A relationship status is just a state of a person but in no way it defines a character. Nowadays people are so afraid to be alone that they will do anything to get a date or go to any heights to come in a relationship. This phenomenon is more observed in the youth. What a pity that in the career shaping age where one is supposed to channelize all the energy towards a positive direction, it is all getting wasted up in brooding about ones single hood.
Everyone must realize the beauty of being single. If one stops making the exterior a locus of their identity and stop judging oneself based on their relationship status, one will see how magnificent and joyous single hood can be.
Following are some reasons why you must enjoy and be happy as a single:
1.You have nobody to please but yourself
When in a romantic or intimate commitment with someone, there are always a number of expectations that you have to stand up to. Coming home tired after the day’s work and still cater to their needs and pamper them. But in singlehood, care only for yourself, cook for yourself and please yourself. Now that’s nirvana!
2.More time for self indulgence
Couples are so caught up in their responsibilities towards each other that they hardly have time to pursue their own hobbies or indulge in their own likings and choices. Being single provides one that freedom of choice. It is highly liberating to take your foot down, go clubbing, trekking or simply curl up on an armchair and read a fine book.
3.Live in peace, without fear
In a relationship one is always in a fear of doing a mistake, making the partner unhappy somehow and ultimately ending up alone. This fear is so gripping that they have to think out their actions and are under a constant pressure, rendering their lives tumultuous and with lack of peace of mind. But singles are anyhow alone and happy and are bereft of this ever present pressure and confused state of mind.
4.More time with family and friends
The clash of friends and the beloved is a constant threat lurking overhead. In such intersections, one would wisely choose their partner and have to compromise with the friendly and family time. After all, who would want to bear the wrath of an angry girlfriend/boyfriend? But in singlehood, all your time can be happily divided between yourself, family and friends.
Being with someone you love is a blissful feeling, probably the best in the world. But to get into an arrangement solely out of a myth or a fear of loneliness is absurd and painful in the long run. Go out there, have fun being single and rejoice in the feeling of self care and self indulgence. There is a different joy in being single.
