Since, the movie was shot in Kashmir, the production was itself a challenge. And the actor agreed to do it for free.
“Haider” turned out to be one of the best films of his career. He won multiple awards and accolades for his film “Haider”. Including an IIFA and a filmfare for the Best Actor.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”.
The movie also won the People’s Choice Award in the world category at the Rome Film Festival. Shahid Kapoor had turned down some of the biggest films including Mira Nair’s “The Reluctant Fundamentalist “.
