Amid the global Coronavirus pandemic, the most exciting and thrilling news for the cricket fans is the commencement of the much-awaited tournament IPL (Indian Premier League). The IPL has only been around for 12 years, but it has become one of the most popular and valuable cricket leagues in the world. The thirteenth season of IPL is scheduled to begin from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier the tournament would have started on March 29,2020, but due to the three weeks lockdown from March 25 the tournament was suspended indefinitely, and the fans across the country and the world were appalled by this bad news. However, on August 10, Government of India permitted to hold the tournament in the UAE. So, one of most lucrative leagues in the world is all set to kickstart on September 19 with a brand new title sponsor Dream 11 and fans can’t keep their calm

On September 6, the BCCI announced the schedule of Dream11 IPL 2020 and the first match is going to be a thriller clash between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and three times champions Chennai Super Kings.
The Social Media banter
After the announcement of the schedule, the players have flown to the UAE and have already started their training. And amid all this, the social media handles of all the team franchise are keeping fans engaged and entertained by providing the cool behind the scenes, players photos and videos.
Similarly, team Royal Challengers Bangalore recently posted a video on Twitter. In the video, there were two fixtures, and the RCB team asked the fans (the 12th man Army) to pick their favourite fixture. The video highlighted all the teams which are going to play against RCB. However, in the video, they used the wrong (older) logo of the Rajasthan Royals.
And Rajasthan Royals was quick to notice it and gave a witty reaction.
In the humorous response, the Rajasthan Royals posted a Simpsons meme where Appu is writing on a blackboard “I will use the correct logo of RR” again and again. Netizens found it hilarious and flooded the internet with tweets.
But this doesn’t end here; the Kohli led team RCB gave yet another epic reply to Rajasthan Royals by posting a photo of Sanju Samson (player of Rajasthan Royals) where on his helmet, he can be seen sporting the same blue logo (on the pink jersey) of Rajasthan Royals that RCB used. RCB highlighted the logo and tweeted
“So you’re saying this is the incorrect logo?”
Netizens are loving this funny banter between the teams, and so are we.
For the unversed, this banter started because earlier Rajasthan Royals’ jersey was blue colour and logo was also Blue but RR changed their logo and jersey colour to pink since IPL 2019.
Blows for Chennai Super Kings
While all other teams started their training a while ago, the Dhoni-led team Chennai Super Kings is having a hard time due to Coronavirus. BCCI found 13 COVID-19 cases, including bowler Deepak Chahar in the CSK team. The schedule of IPL 2020 got delayed due to this very reason.
However, after recovery, Deepak Chahar has joined the team since yesterday and has started training.
Team Chennai Super Kings enjoys a massive fanbase across the country. With Indian players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Deepak Chahar, in the team, CSK always tops the points table. However this time Chennai Super Kings fans are getting more bad news.
The vice-captain of the team Suresh Raina pulled out of IPL 2020 citing ‘personal reasons’.
Earlier on August 15, Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni bid farewell to the Indian team as they announced their retirement. However, after pulling out of IPL 2020, Suresh Raina will continue playing in the Indian team.
The blows for the Chennai Super Kings team continue as days after Suresh Raina’s pulling out of IPL 2020, CSK player Harbhajan Singh also followed suit and pulled out of this edition of IPL citing ‘personal reasons’. Harbhajan Singh tweeted
“Dear Friends,
I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are challenging times, and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. @ChennaiIPL CSK management has been incredibly supportive, and I wish them a great IPL. Stay safe and Jai Hind.”
Mr N Srinivasan says, “These boys, they’re family, and they have been family for over a decade now. The franchise will stand by him, and he has our complete support in this time of distress.”
Absence of these two great players will surely miss by the team as well as fans. ????
